Berry Collection Walk at Woodnook Vale
Join our Community TreeACTION Officer Helen for a short walk through Woodnook Vale LNR where we will collect Elder and Rowan berries, which will be sown a few weeks later to produce tree saplings! Join Hyndburn’s Woodlands Officer Brandon for weekly practical conservation sessions. This week, we will be at Woodnook Vale LNR (Royds Street entrance) carrying out some site maintenance. Tasks include but are not limited to cutting back the summer growth, chopping tree limbs, scything, and path widening. Tools, gloves and PPE will be provided. Join us every Tuesday @1pm (weather permitting) until September 2024. The transects start in Pleck Meadow and go around the whole site, where participants will count and ID every butterfly or bee they see. This data will then be submitted to UKBMS and the Bumblebee Conservation Trust respectively.
