SUMMARY:Himalayan Balsam Bashing - Hyndburn's Nature Reserve Volunteers session @Jackhouse nature reserve
DESCRIPTION:The dreaded Invasive Non-Native Himalayan Balsam is rearing its ugly head again and we need your help to reduce its spread! We will be pulling and/or bashing balsam across the site this summer. \nJoin us for our Hyndburn’s Nature Reserves project! There will be fortnightly conservation volunteers sessions at Jackhouse nature reserve\, on Wednesdays. Come along to learn new skills\, meet people\, keep fit and help wildlife! \nPark on Fieldings Lane\, it is then a 10 minute walk to the entrance of Jackhouse nature reserve where we will be meeting. \nTo express your interest or find out more\, email robert.gabryszak@prospectsfoundation.org.uk\, telephone 01254 230348 or call into the Prospects office at 54 Broadway\, Accrington \n

SUMMARY:Brookside Volunteer Sunday
DESCRIPTION:The Prospects Foundation and Hyndburn Borough Council are very excited to announce the return of the much loved Brookside Volunteer Sunday sessions! \nThis week\, we will be kickstarting the return with a gentle coppicing session. We need to inspect some of the stools that were cut by the cable company to ensure it was done properly and that the Hazel will re-grow properly. If all is well\, we’ll move onto using material onsite to create ‘Dragons Nest’ around the stools to prevent regrowth being browsed by Deer. \nAll are welcome but under 18s must be supervised by an adult. We recommend that all participants should be comfortable walking unaided for a minimum of 20 minutes. \nWe meet at the Noticeboard by the Stanhill Road entrance to the site  – see the map below! \n \nWaterproofs\, boots\, and sturdy clothes are highly recommended. Gloves and tools will be provided! \nAccess can be uneven and boggy\, so these sessions are not suitable for those who rely on mobility aids. We are working hard to improve the accessibility of the site. \nTo find out more or confirm your attendance\, please contact Brandon at brandon.cherry@prospectsfoundation.org.uk or call on 07733 840842

SUMMARY:Pleck Meadow Annual Tractor Cut - Hyndburn's Nature Reserve Volunteers session @Peel Park and the Coppice LNR
DESCRIPTION:Map showing the car park at Peel Park & the Coppice LNR. Click the image to be taken to the map.\nIt’s that time of year again! Pleck Meadow will be receiving it’s 5th annual cut and collect on Monday 7th September. \nA “cut and collect” is a meadow management technique used to reduce nutrients in a wildflower meadow. Low nutrient soil prevents injurious weeds and coarse grasses from dominating and allows a wider variety of wildflowers to establish\, providing a greater benefit to local wildlife. \nWe need help from volunteers to marshal and keep an eye out for critters like frogs and voles. Find us any time between 9am – 3pm at Pleck Meadow. \nJoin us for our Hyndburn’s Nature Reserves project! There will be weekly conservation volunteers sessions at Peel Park and the Coppice Local Nature Reserve\, every Monday from 10am – 1pm. Come along to learn new skills\, meet people\, keep fit and help wildlife! \nTo express your interest or find out more\, email robert.gabryszak@prospectsfoundation.org.uk\, telephone 01254 230348 or call into the Prospects office at 54 Broadway\, Accrington \n
