Great Harwood PROSPECTS Panel was set up in 1996 with local residents and representatives of other local groups to help improve Great Harwood's local environment and improve access to surrounding green areas.
The Panel was made up of representatives from other local groups such as Great Harwood Civic Society and the Community Action Group. Each brought their ideas to Panel meetings which helped towards organising various projects and events in the town.
The Panel enjoyed working with other local groups and residents in Great Harwood. Examples of the Panel's work work can be seen at at Edge End Wood and Harwood Bar Wood where, with local residents, small tree felling was carried out and wildlife habitats were created which improved the area for both local people and wildlife. Another example was the partnership work with Lancashire County Council and Great Harwood Civic Society where improvements were made to the Great Harwood Nature Walk and footpaths around Great Harwood.
