Whittling session
Learn safe knife skills and whittle your own tent peg, mushroom, butter knife, spoon or mallet. The focus will be on connecting to nature and crafting as a way of benefitting our wellbeing. Join Hyndburn’s Woodlands Officer Brandon for weekly practical conservation sessions, this week we will be at Whinney Hill woodland carrying out a Balsam bash. Himalayan Balsam is an invasive non-native species which occupies a disproportionate amount of our woodlands and outcompetes native species. Join us every Tuesday @1pm (weather permitting) until September 2024. The transects start in Pleck Meadow and go around the whole site, where participants will count and ID every butterfly or bee they see. This data will then be submitted to UKBMS and the Bumblebee Conservation Trust respectively.
