Join Hyndburn’s Woodlands Officer Brandon for weekly practical conservation sessions. This week, we will be at Huncoat East woodland carrying out some coppicing work. This woodland has an abundance of Hazel that is a fair few years out of coppice rotation. We will be using hand tools like bow saws and loppers to properly coppice hazel, and build 'dragon's nests' around the stool to discourage grazing, which in turn will promote growth. The Friends of Arden Hall & The Coppice are running monthly volunteer sessions to get the community involved at Peel Park & the Coppice LNR. On Sunday 14th December, (9:30am-11:30am,) the Friends group will creating habitat piles near the car park. Family-friendly and a great opportunity to explore the woodlands this winter.
