Back in 2006 the Baxenden Community Forum worked with a local artist and the local schools to commission the Accrington Pals Mosaics which were installed in the Rose Garden in Haworth Park. Later, in 2006, the Forum also held a ‘Community Fair’ on Saturday 1st July 2006 to Mark the 90th anniversary of the Battle of the Somme. Over the years the wooden frames of the mosaics deteriorated and they were eventually taken down for repair and stored in Elmfield Hall in Gatty park to dry out.
During 2019 Gerry Burke of Sandy Lane Gardening Group repaired the frames and they were reinstalled back in the Rose Garden in the grounds of Haworth Art Gallery.
