Bat Walk at Brookside
Join Alice and Roger 'Batman' Cunliffe for a sunset walk around Brookside and a chance to see some bats! Borrow one of our bat detectors, and hear their calls as they navigate between trees using echolocation. This event is free to attend, but we will be accepting donations on the night. The Friends of Arden Hall & The Coppice are running monthly volunteer sessions to get the community involved at Peel Park & the Coppice LNR. On Sunday 19th October, (9:30am-11:30am,) the Friends group will be litter-picking and tidying paths, starting at the car park. Family-friendly and a great opportunity to explore the woodlands this autumn. There will be brews and refreshments afterwards. Join Hyndburn’s Woodlands Officer Brandon for weekly practical conservation sessions. This week, we will be at Abbott Clough woodland cutting back the hedgerow that grows adjacent to the footpath. Please note we will be working on the roadside. Tasks include using hand tools to cut back the hedgerow. Secondary tasks include widening the main entrance path to the woods. We meet at the Noticeboard by the Stanhill Road entrance to the site at 10am (see the map below) All are welcome but under 18s must be supervised by an adult.
