The Prospects Foundation and Hyndburn Borough Council are very excited to announce the return of the much loved Brookside Volunteer Sunday sessions!

This week, we will be kickstarting the return with a gentle coppicing session. We need to inspect some of the stools that were cut by the cable company to ensure it was done properly and that the Hazel will re-grow properly. If all is well, we’ll move onto using material onsite to create ‘Dragons Nest’ around the stools to prevent regrowth being browsed by Deer.

All are welcome but under 18s must be supervised by an adult. We recommend that all participants should be comfortable walking unaided for a minimum of 20 minutes.

We meet at the Noticeboard by the Stanhill Road entrance to the site  – see the map below!

Waterproofs, boots, and sturdy clothes are highly recommended. Gloves and tools will be provided!

Access can be uneven and boggy, so these sessions are not suitable for those who rely on mobility aids. We are working hard to improve the accessibility of the site.
