Whinney Hill – Hyndburn’s Woodlands

Tuesday, July 9, 2024 @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm

Join Hyndburn’s Woodlands Officer Brandon for weekly practical conservation sessions, this week we will be at Whinney Hill woodland carrying out a Balsam bash. Himalayan Balsam is an invasive non-native species which occupies a disproportionate amount of our woodlands and outcompetes native species. This reduces the amount of native species, which some pollinators rely on to lay their eggs.

Tools, gloves and PPE will be provided. Please wear sturdy boots, long sleeves and full length trousers as we may be working around brambles and nettles. Waterproofs may be needed, depending on the weather. Please remember to bring warm items of clothing e.g., hats, gloves, extra thick socks, spare fleeces/jackets.

We will be meeting on Thorneyholme Road, BB5 5FW (Just next to the play area). Staff will be in orange high-vis. There is on-street parking available. What 3 words location is sport.rods.rivers.

To find out more or confirm your attendance, please contact Brandon at brandon.cherry@prospectsfoundation.org.uk or 07733 840842
