Memorial Park – Scything Training

Wednesday, May 22 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

Join Hyndburn’s Woodlands Officer Brandon for weekly practical conservation sessions, every Wednesday at Memorial Park in Great Harwood.

This week, we will be learning how to use scythes to carry out ‘conservation cuts’ on grasslands. This will involve learning how to set up a scythe to your own specifications, sharpen or hone the blade, and the correct way to use a scythe.

Tools, gloves and PPE will be provided. Please wear sturdy boots, long sleeves and full length trousers as we may be working around brambles and nettles. Waterproofs may be needed, depending on the weather.

We will be meeting on Church Lane, Great Harwood, BB6 7PU. Staff will be in orange high-vis.

To find out more or confirm your attendance, please contact Brandon at brandon.cherry@prospectsfoundation.org.uk or 07733 840842
