Big Butterfly Count @Woodnook Vale LNR

Thursday, July 31, 2025 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm

Join PROSPECTS as we take part in the UK’s biggest insect monitoring scheme. This session will take place at Woodnook Vale LNR, meeting at Royds St entrance, moving on to King George’s meadow (next to the playing field,) and finally Jubilee Woods meadow.

  • Date: Thursday 31st July 2025
  • Time: 11am-1pm
  • Meeting Location: Royds St entrance, BB5 2LW.

Each big butterfly count will entail a 15 minute observation in a park, allotment or wildlife reserve, to count every butterfly that is using the area.

Not only does it provide us useful data on what pollinators are using our green spaces, it contributes to a huge pool of data collected by participants nationwide. Butterfly Conservation’s expert data analysts are then able to use this huge pool of data to inform our understanding of butterfly populations in the UK.

Family-friendly, under 18s must be accompanied by an adult.
