Brookside Development Officer Post

Brookside Development Officer

5 days per week (37 hours), £27,000 per annum, 18-month contract

We’re looking for a Development Officer for Hyndburn Council’s newly acquired Brookside (Bury Meadows) site in Oswaldtwistle.

Could you help to create a masterplan for transforming an underused 35-hectare site in the heart of industrial Lancashire into a beacon of biodiversity, habitat recovery, carbon capture and tangible climate action?

The Development Officer will work in partnership with Hyndburn Borough Council, Proffitts – Investing in Communities CIC, Lancashire Wildlife Trust, Ribble Rivers Trust and Stanhill Community Village Association to harness the energy of local people and supporting organisations to create a masterplan for the future of the Brookside site in Oswaldtwistle.  This will be achieved via environmental surveys and investigations, working with local people in a ‘citizen science’ approach, involving experts to produce a variety of ecological, safety and carbon reports and by undertaking a range of climate awareness projects through consultation, community development and awareness raising activities.

We’re looking for someone from an environmental/ecological background with project management and community engagement experience.  If this sounds like you, we want to hear from you!

Don’t miss your chance to become part of our friendly and dedicated team, with regular training opportunities, flexi-time and a NEST pension scheme.
