CANAL VOLUNTEER WORKPARTY

FREEHYNDBURN VOLUNTEER WORK-PARTY with PROSPECTS in partnership with The Canal and River Trust. Would you like to meet new people, enjoy some healthy exercise in the great outdoors and make a difference to your local canal? Our new Hyndburn Volunteer Work Party could just be the thing you are looking for. Help to improve the towpaths throughout Hyndburn. Volunteers are needed. Tasks may include: Litter-clearance, towpath repairs, vegetation management, painting, plus much more to improve the mooring area… Wear suitable clothing and footwear. All tools, hi Vis and life-jackets will be provided. Please bring a packed lunch for a picnic at 1:15pm approx.
The venue for this volunteer session is the half-way point on the Leeds-Liverpool Canal at the Donkey Back picnic area. You can access the canal from Church Kirk Bridge – Bridge 112, Church Kirk (Changeline) or by walking down the footpath at the side of St James’ Road, Church BB5 4JP Grid Ref: SD 741 291 and walk towards the canal. We will be improving the location ready for a memorial event for the late Bernard Scully, Church PROSPECTS Panel – weeding the picnic area, washing the half-way structure and removing graffiti etc.
