WOODY (on Woodnook Vale)

Friday, January 17, 2020 @ 9:30 am - 4:00 pm

This Friday (17th Jan) we will be felling trees deemed potentially dangerous to users of the path / cycleway through Woodnook Vale.  This route is owned by Lancashire County Council and forms part of the National Cycleway Route 6 and is also well used by walkers, runners and dog walkers.

As the route was an old railway line some of the trees (mostly willow) are growing in the banking at steep angles and a number have split and fallen onto the path over the past year.

We will be felling the most dangerous trees to pre-empt any further tree falls and to minimise risk to users.

We will be meeting at Hollins Recreation Ground (the ‘Rec’) which is on Hollins Lane between the Manchester Road junction and Hollins School.  We tend to park on the Rec side of the road.

We’ll be meeting at 9.30am and then walking down to Woodnook Vale.

The Google map is for the Alma Inn which is just over the road.
