SUMMARY:Rushton House - Hyndburn's Woodlands
DESCRIPTION:Join Hyndburn’s Woodlands Officer Brandon for weekly practical conservation sessions. This week\, we will be at Rushton House Farm carrying out some hedgerow maintenance. Tasks include using hand tools to free up the hedgerow to promote better growth next year. Secondary tasks include cutting back the pathway and making repairs to the dead hedge. \nTools\, gloves and PPE will be provided. Please wear sturdy boots\, long sleeves and full length trousers as we may be working around brambles and nettles. Waterproofs may be needed\, depending on the weather. Please remember to bring spare water this activity can be quite demanding. \nWe will be meeting along Broadfield\, BB5 3SA (Oswaldtwistle\, just before the Chick Inn Farm Shop). Staff will be in orange high-vis. SUMMARY:Meadow Maintenance at Brookside - Planting Yellow Rattle!
DESCRIPTION:Join our Brookside Development Office Alice for an additional meadow restoration session! Much of the rare and valuable wildflower meadow habitat on site has degraded\, but we are working to restore them to their former glory. \nThis is a multi stage project\, and the first task is to cut back the overgrown grasses and remove the cuttings\, ready for seeds to be planted in Spring. We will also be planting yellow rattle this week\, which will help reduce the vigour of the grasses. \nWe meet at the Noticeboard by the Stanhill Road entrance to the site at 10am.
