DESCRIPTION:Join The PROSPECTS Foundation and the Weavers Uprising Bicentennial Committee as we celebrate the 200th anniversary of the Weavers Uprising at Whinney Hill Woodland\, and all of the wonderful biodiversity it now holds! \n200 years ago\, handloom weavers across Lancashire rose up against the introduction of power looms\, which threatened their livelihoods. They first met on a hill in Accrington\, which now stands as Whinney Hill Woodland\, managed by The PROSPECTS Foundation. \nWe will be holding a joint celebration to honour the weavers\, to showcase the wonderful work Prospects has carried out in the woodland\, and to learn about the incredible biodiversity the site now holds. \nJoin us for a free\, family-friendly fun day with performances\, nature-themed demonstrations\, historical talks\, information stalls\, and a monument unveiling by Great Harwood’s Town Crier! \nOn-street parking is available on Tunstall Drive or Sherwood Way\, BB5 5BD. From there\, follow the signage to the event area! \nAlternatively\, Prospects will be leading a nature walk at 12.30pm which will end at the event area for roughly 1.30pm.
