SUMMARY:Whinney Hill - Hyndburn's Woodlands
DESCRIPTION:Join Hyndburn’s Woodlands Officer Brandon for weekly practical conservation sessions. This week\, we will be carrying out some woodland thinning works. This will involve using hand tools to fell small trees that are underdeveloped due to overcrowding. \n\nThis session has been changed from fencing repair due to pricing issues. \n\nTools\, gloves and PPE will be provided. Please wear sturdy boots\, long sleeves and full length trousers as we may be working around brambles and nettles. Waterproofs may be needed\, depending on the weather. \nWe will be meeting at the end of Livingstone Road\, BB5 5BS (Next to the Livingstone Road Allotments). Staff will be in orange hi-vis. SUMMARY:Community Tree Nursery session
DESCRIPTION:Join our Community TreeACTION Officer Helen for a practical session at our new ‘Tree Nursery’ Allotment at Miller Fold! \nThis week\, we will be potting-on some Oak saplings that were saved from the coppice the Monday prior. We will also be stratifying seeds (rowan\, guelder rose & spindle) ready for potting-on in spring. We’ll be putting these pots into a rodent-proof tree box to keep the trees safe! \nWe will be meeting at the small car park at the top of Miller Fold Avenue\, Accrington\, BB5 0NT (more on-street parking available once the car park is full). Google maps link HERE. \nPLEASE NOTE: Site Accessibility – there is a short walk from the cars down a very uneven road. The allotment itself has bad access; the path down to the entrance is steep and overgrown! Wear good footwear and non-snag clothing.  \n\nEveryone welcome. DESCRIPTION:Join Sonja to learn new gardening skills\, socialise and relax in nature while supporting our productive community allotment! \nWe’ll be planting broad beans and peas. \nLocation: Miller Fold Community Allotment\, off Miller Fold Avenue\, Accrington\, BB5 ONT\nMeeting place: The junction between Woodview Drive and Miller Fold Avenue (what3words: stooping.conquests.topping) \nNo experience needed. Snacks\, and a warm welcome at each session! Everyone welcome. \n  \nThe closest bus stop is ‘St Oswalds RC’ which is a 3 minute walk away and is served by the A1 bus service form Accrington. \nAccess is moderate with some unseen slip/trip hazards underfoot\, however there are places to sit on the allotment.
