SUMMARY:Big Butterfly Count at Peel Park and the Coppice LNR
DESCRIPTION:PROSPECTS will be taking part in the Big Butterfly Count in July & August! Novice or expert\, join us in the national event to help monitor the health of butterfly populations! The sessions will include a walk and 15 minute stop in a sunny location to count any visiting butterflies. \nThere will be two official sessions at Peel Park & the Coppice LNR\, meet in the Peel Park Car Park: \n\nTuesday 30th July – 10am – 12pm\nFriday 2nd August – 1pm – 3pm\n\nYou can choose which day is best for you (or attend both!) \nIf you’d like to take part in the Big Butterfly Count in your own garden or green space\, then check the Butterfly Conservation Website for more information. \nAll counts are subject to weather conditions\, for more info\, contact Robert: \n\nrobert.gabryszak@prospectsfoundation.org.uk\n01254 230348 (ext. 208)\n\nThe walk will follow the same route as transect route for bee and butterfly surveys! DESCRIPTION:Join Hyndburn’s Woodlands Officer Brandon for weekly practical conservation sessions\, this week we will be back at Woodnook Vale carrying out the second part of the Woodland Condition Assessment. \nTools\, gloves and PPE will be provided. Please wear sturdy boots\, long sleeves and full length trousers as we may be working around brambles and nettles. Waterproofs may be needed\, depending on the weather. Please remember to bring warm items of clothing e.g.\, hats\, gloves\, extra thick socks\, spare fleeces/jackets. \nWe will be meeting along Hollins Lane\, BB5 2QY . Staff will be in orange high-vis. SUMMARY:Weekly Butterfly & Bee Survey at Peel Park and the Coppice LNR
DESCRIPTION:Join us every Tuesday @1pm (weather permitting) until September 2024. The transects start in Pleck Meadow and go around the whole site\, where participants will count and ID every butterfly or bee they see. This data will then be submitted to UKBMS and the Bumblebee Conservation Trust respectively. \nThe surveys are open to all members of the public\, whether you are a butterfly novice or an invertebrate expert. The walk around the site will help you stay fit and get in touch with nature! (Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult; well-behaved dogs are welcome.) \nMeeting point & Accessibility: Robert will be in the Peel Park Car Park next to the bowling green at the end of Peel Park Avenue\, BB5 6UQ at 1pm. Look for Robert in his orange hi-vis! By 1:15pm\, the group should arrive at the starting point for the transect\, where attendees on foot are welcome to meet. This map details the meeting points as well shows the route taken. Some areas of the walk are not accessible for everyone\, but there are alternate routes which individuals may take to avoid these. \nThe transect route for bee and butterfly surveys!\nDate & Time: Every Tuesday @1pm. The survey is subject to weather conditions.
