SUMMARY:Riverfly Survey and Twig Boat Racing - Hyndburn's Woodlands
DESCRIPTION:Join Hyndburn’s Woodlands Officer Brandon for weekly practical conservation sessions\, this week we will be carrying out a Riverfly Survey at Woodnook Vale! This involves kick sampling in the river (Using wellies to kick up debris and funnel invertebrates into a tray which can then be identified. Secondary activities includes using locally foraged materials to create ‘twig boats’ which we will be racing down the river! \nTools\, gloves and PPE will be provided. Please wear sturdy wellies\, long sleeves and full length trousers as we may be around brambles and nettles. Waterproofs may be needed\, depending on the weather. Please remember to bring warm items of clothing e.g.\, hats\, gloves\, extra thick socks\, spare fleeces/jackets. \n\nBooking is essential for this event. This is a family-friendly event. Please do not bring dogs to the event. \n\nWe will be meeting along Hollins Lane\, BB5 2QY (Just outside of the Hollins School) Staff will be in orange high-vis. There is on-street parking available.
