DESCRIPTION:Join our Community TreeACTION Officer Helen for a practical session involving tree maintenance tasks to help our newly planted trees at the Old Railway Line in Great Harwood. We will be checking on all the trees\, removing any vegetation such as grass\, rushes and brambles that might outcompete the trees\, and replacing any broken shelters and stakes. \nWe will be meeting on Railway Terrace\, Great Harwood\, BB6 7EF. Staff will be in orange hi-vis. \nNo experience is necessary – just bring your enthusiasm! \n\nAll ages welcome. DESCRIPTION:Join Hyndburn’s Woodlands Officer Brandon for weekly practical conservation sessions\, every Wednesday at Memorial Park in Great Harwood. \nThis week\, we will be learning how to use scythes to carry out ‘conservation cuts’ on grasslands. This will involve learning how to set up a scythe to your own specifications\, sharpen or hone the blade\, and the correct way to use a scythe. \n\n\nTools\, gloves and PPE will be provided. Please wear sturdy boots\, long sleeves and full length trousers as we may be working around brambles and nettles. Waterproofs may be needed\, depending on the weather. \nWe will be meeting on Church Lane\, Great Harwood\, BB6 7PU.
