December 2025 Crafting Evenings #2 | Wooden Reindeer Crafting
Tuesday, December 9 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Looking to create some natural and plastic-free festive decorations this winter? Our family-friendly Tuesday crafting evenings have you covered! All sessions will use materials harvested from local green spaces for the purpose of conservation, meaning the crafts will be good for you and for nature. To top it all off, we will have warm mulled punch (0%) and mince pies to get you in the festive spirit, all for free!
For this session our Hyndburn Woodlands officer will be showing you how to expertly create a wooden reindeer decoration! The primary material used will be Hazel, a fantastic tree which has been used for millenia as a food source and for green wood-working. Hazel respond well to the traditional technique of coppicing, felling the tree in such a way that it grows back stronger and, in the case of Hazel, in straight rods which are perfect to use in wood-working.
The materials will be selectively harvested from patches of woodland that will benefit from thinning. Thinning in dense woodlands allows for more light to reach the woodland floor, encouraging a wider variety of wildflowers, shrubs, and trees to grow, improving biodiversity.
Event Location: @The PROSPECTS Shop, 54 Broadway, Accrington, BB5 1EW
Date: Tuesday 9th December | Time: 6:30pm – 8pm
