SUMMARY:Ash Tree Survey at Brookside
DESCRIPTION:Join our Brookside Restoration Coordinator Alice for a day of practical conservation work on the brand new Brookside Site! \nUnfortunately many of the Ash trees at Brookside are infected with the deadly ash dieback fungus (Hymenoscyphus fraxineus). Research lead by the Royal Botanic Gardens\, Kew suggests that up to 85% of UK ash trees will die from the disease. (You can read more about this research HERE)\, and little can be done to save the trees once infected. \nHowever\, it is increasingly important to understand which of the trees survive. Over the next 18 months we aim to collect data on how many of our trees remain healthy\, using a basic ash dieback survey. \nMeeting point is the Kemp Delph entrance to Brookside\, on Stanhill Road. Staff will be in orange hi-vis. \nWhat3words: crowned.sits.paths  \nNo experience is necessary – just bring your enthusiasm! \n\nAll ages welcome but under 18s must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.\nPlease wear suitable outdoor clothes (long trousers and wellies/ walking boots)\nPlease bring lunch.
