Big garden Bird Watch -

You can take part on your own or as a family, and you can even take part in your local park if you don't have a garden. To get involved, just pick an hour over 25-26 January 2014 and tell us what you see. It couldn't be easier!


World Wetlands Day 2 Feb

Each year, World Wetlands Day focuses on a different theme. The theme for 2014 is Wetlands and Agriculture. Find out more on the World Wetlands Day 2014 web page - there is also a comic strip with facts about food, water and wetlands available.

BTO National Nest Box Week 14 -21 Feb 

Led by Britain’s leading bird research charity, National Nest Box Week from 14-21st Feb encourages us to put up nest boxes in our local area in order to promote and enhance biodiversity and conservation of our breeding birds and wildlife. Find out what’s going on and how to make or decorate your own by attending an event / drop in session at the PROSPECTS Environment Centre on Wednesday, 18th February. See What's On page for details!  Monday 17 February - Friday 21 February 2014 is half-term week.  


Veggie Month 1-31 March -

There are many reasons to go veggie including animal welfare, health, environmental protection and cost.  If you are concerned about one or more of these issues, why not take the opportunity to try some more meat-free meals during March or take the veggie challenge?  

Fairtrade Fortnight 27 Feb - 11 March -

World Book Day 1 March

Donate, swap, lend, borrow or share a book.  Come to our Book Share event and discuss your favouite environmental books - wildlife, birds, plants, permaculture, sewing, carfting, recycling etc. Nominate your favourite book - one that has inspired you most about looking after the environment. Can you help us create our library of book resources for people to drop in to PEC and read over a cup of tea and coffee?

International Women's Day 8 March -

The theme for 2014 is 'Women: are you feeling empowered'?  Meet the 'empowered' women at PROSPECTS and find out how you can get involved and help them on all our exciting projects.

World Forestry Day 21 March

World Forestry Day has been celebrated around the world for 30 years to remind communities of the importance of forests and the many benefits which we gain from them.  Become a serial planter.

Celebrate World Forest Day on 21 March with a walk in a local woodland – or, if you can’t get out and about, why not get the family to try our Woodland Game and learn a little more about how good woodland management can benefit our environment?  Drop in to the PROSPECTS Environment Centre and find ut about Woody!
