Woodnook Vale Willow Trail

The Baxenden Forum and Woodnook Residents Association installed an access path from the residential area to the greenway. To enhance the trail they organised two willow weaving training sessions along the Vale, resulting in a lovely living screen and a seating arbour being added beside the pathway and The Foundation also worked with the Probation Service on further footpath improvement.

A few years later (2011) lots more willow workings were added to the trail along with several more benches for the weary traveller to rest on.  Willow workshops were held involving a ladies walking group, St Paul's Scouts, St John's Primary School and Hollins Technology College.  The children all made small willow items and lanterns for the celebration parade.   Hollins were especially involved making larger sculptures for the trail with the help of willow worker Joe Gregory and Jeff Allen installed some living willow structures with help from Baxenden forum volunteers.
