Millennium Baby Woodland

PROSPECTS continued to provide maintenance support for this new woodland, originally planted back in spring 2002 to commemorate local babies born at the millennium.

At the Millennium Baby Woodland in 2012  the Nature Walks in Hyndburn project enjoyed a good year of project work with the horticultural students from Accrington and Rossendale College.  They studied the woodland and learnt how to carry out various aspects of woodland management.  By following the management plan for the woodland, the group have learnt why we sometimes need to fell trees, been taught the skills to fell a tree safely, how to plant a hedgerow, tree idetification and how to use felled timber to create dead hedges.
