Edge End Woodland

During 2013, the Great Harwood PROSPECTS Panel is contining their woodland managemant work at Edge End woodland by pruning existing tree, thinning out overcrowded trees and creating dead hedging with the wood that this creates.

The group have also planted bluebell and wild garlic bulbs as well as hedgerow whips to turn the dead hedges into living ones.

Edge End Wood Project Days for 2013 - 10am to 1pm Saturday mornings.

4th May Rebuilding a deadwood hedge to create a wildlife area, path maintenance work and general site tidy up.

June  Scything and undergrowth clearance work in an area adjacent to the Clinkham Lane entrance near the official footpath. 50% to be scythed and cut back with 50% of area left for wildlife.

July – Himalayan Balsam pulling in the bog land/wet areas.  This date may need to be adjusted nearer the time dependent on the growth and the flowering stage of the plant
