Walking the Paths of Great Harwood - General Information - HERE

1. Round the Houses - 3 miles - Exploring the boundaries of the town, use this route to practice your directional skills.  This route can be broken down into 3 separate, shorter, easier walks. Download HERE.

2. Beyond the Lidgett - 2.5 miles - A hilly walk that promises to get the hert beating and to provide wondeful panoramas of the town and beyond.  The views make it all worthwhile.  Download HERE.

3. Dean Clough - 2.5 miles - A tranquil walk through breathtaking countryside.  Download HERE.

4. Back Of Bowley - 2.5 miles - Beautiful rolling countryside and views.  Muddy in places near the Dean Brook.  Download HERE.

5. Whalley Banks - 3 or 4.5 miles - A longer and shorter option on this route of historical interest.  Download HERE.

6. Calderside - 3.25 miles - Wander down by the River Calder and have a leissuely break at a local pub or garden centre.  Download HERE.

7. By Hyndburn Bridge - 3 miles - Breathtaking countryside and views.  Download HERE.

Seasonal Walks from Great Harwood - More Coming Soon!

Longer walks that take you into adjacent boroughs and townships which were developed by Great Harwood PROSPECTS Panel, Hyndburn Ramblers, Great Harwood Camera Club and Rishton PROSPECTS Panel.

The walks were held from October 2013 to September 2014.  They are now being checked and amended.

Autumn Colours (October) - the originally walk was October 2013 and was walked and checked in November 2016. Here is the leaflet.

December Clog - takes in part of Stage 5 of the Hyndburn Clog in reverse!  This is one of the longer walks at over 9.8 miles.  It starts and finishes in Gt Harwood so the 5.5 mile Stage 5 has been extended at the beginning and end to create the circular walk. CLOG 5 here.

January Legstretcher - first walked in January 2014 and checked in January 2017.  The walked has been extended to include a section along the canal, part of the Ladybird Trail and the new Clayton Forest Park from Bell Lane to Wjalley Road.  It is now 4.5 miles. Route Information

February Fossil Walk - This was checked on 27th January 2017.  It is still possible to include a circuit around SSSI Star Delph to see the fossil and waterfall but the platform and fath are npt in good condition so please take care.  The start/finish of the walk has been changed to get the hill and stiles out of the way at the start! Mad March Hares - this route will be checked soon and an alternative route done to avoid Cronshaw Chair which is steep and slippy and also to avoid a water-logged area near Moor Lane.
