 JULY 2018 & August (Wildlife Wednesdays)
 
1st July - 11th August = CHILDREN'S COMPETITION.  All the details are HERE
  
7th July (Saturday) = RISHTON PROSPECTS PANEL at Rishton Festival.  The Panel wil be asking the opinion of local residents on the proposed 'From the Mills to the Tower' artwork project at Rishton train station.  Visit their stall at the event for this and other Panel news and activities.
 
9th July (Monday) = BALSAM PULLING with Baxenden Community Forum on Hollins Lane.  Also on 18th July at 1:30pm  & 25th July at 10:00am.  Contact  frankmcvan@gmail.com to help out or to join the Forum
 
10th and 24th July (Tuesday) = MAKING BUTTERFLIES - Crafts at PROSPECTS - drop in sessionsJoin Us details on the poster.
 
11th July (Wednesday) = CELEBRATION EVENT.  Join us at Haworth Art Gallery and/or for a walk.  The largest Local Nature Reserves in Lancashire are being declared at Peel Park and Woodnook Vale, Accrington.  To celebrate, members of the general public are invited to come along from 1:30pm and to join a walk at 2:00pm.  Please see all the details on the poster HERE.
 
14th & 28th July (Saturday) = BEE Hotel / B&B - five star accommodation for pollinators with Barry, Wood Creations. You will learn basic woodworking skills, paint and varnish the hotel and learn about its value for the bees and pollinators in your backyard or garden. The second session is for people to complete their planter. This activity is part of the People’s Postcode Lottery funded Improving Hyndburn’s Wildlife project. 14th July (Saturday) = CREATIVE CONTAINERS FOR KIDS – Family Activity (ideal for 7-11 years KS1 and the rest of the family) with Lyndsie Snape, Go Potty About Herbs. Attract beneficial insects to your garden and backyard by growing insect friendly PLANTS that smell awesome. Create a container of plants for wildlife. 14th/15th July (Saturday & Sunday) = PLAN BEE
PLAN BEE see the presentation about Bees HERE and
PLAN BEE - The Lancashire Wildlife Trust has just been successful in securing a Windfall grant towards extending their Plan Bee project into Hyndburn. The Plan Bee project seeks to increase knowledge in and awareness of a wide range of pollinators in Lancashire Wildlife Trust’s area. The project will undertake volunteer led surveys of pollinators including solitary bees, bumblebees, hoverflies, sawflies and butterflies in upland areas of Hyndburn around Accrington, Baxenden and Oswaldtwistle Moor. The survey data collected will be fed into ongoing national surveys and will also help to inform management recommendations for landowners. The Project Officer, Ben Hargreaves, is looking for volunteers to help with the survey work from the beginning of May onwards.

27th July = BUTTERFLY and WILDFLOWER WALK.   Family friendly butterfly and wildflower walk led by the Hyndburn Butterfly Project. PROSPECTS holds regular VOLUNTEER activities at a number of sites around Hyndburn.  Please click on the sites below to find an activity near you.   Click on the What's On above for dates and times.
